Description
We are a Boston-based General Contractor looking for an experienced General Construction Estimator to join our team. This Estimator will report directly to the Vice President and the President of the company. We bid within the Federal and Public arenas only and require the candidate to already have this type of experience.
Requirements
- Manage Bid List to ensure a consistent backlog of $40 million
- Oversee Junior Mechanical Estimator
- Bid a wide variety of government projects in the $5-15 million range.
- Searching for bidding opportunities on various bid sourcing platforms and sources, reviewing potential project drawings, specifications, and job narratives to assist in seeing if we will bid the project.
- Collecting material and equipment pricing, calculating job labor requirements, collecting subcontractor numbers, and assembling all the costs collected into our bid template to assist with final bid preparation and delivery.
- Attending walk throughs, delivering bids, and making calls to subs.
- Keeping estimates on schedule / pace with regards to meeting deadlines for walk-throughs and actual submission of the bid, whether it is an upload electronically or hand delivery.
- Assembling bid packages for the general contracting division and the mechanical contracting division.
- Keeping good organization of your work product so that collaboration can easily occur during the bid process. This would include electronic files or documents and paper drawings, specs, etc.
- Follow our company procedures for bidding work with regards to downloading documents, saving work product on the public network, utilizing online bidding programs to distribute job information to subs for bid purposes and keeping good communication with the entire estimating department.
- Assist with subcontractor negotiating after successful project award. Assist with budget sheet for project management after a successful project award. Assist at project turnover meeting to project management.
- All other typical duties performed by an Estimator for companies which provide similar services.
