- Construction Litigation Paralegal
Description
Michael Best & Friedrich is seeking a Construction Litigation Paralegal with at least 2 years of experience to join the Charlotte office! The Construction Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys with various substantive and administrative responsibilities including but not limited to the tasks below.
Preparing, filing and serving pleadings and discovery materials
Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel
Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client, claims and full partnership with attorney through end of case
Conduct legal research including cite and fact checking, pulling cases and documentation, shepardizing, and citation verification
Coordinate with outside vendors and agencies such as court reporters, law clerks, eDiscovery vendors, etc.
Prepare, organize, and file documents and correspondence
Update and maintain internal databases
Organize relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation
Prepare for, and attend, depositions, hearings, administrative law trials and jury trials
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
Paralegal certificate from ABA approved paralegal program, preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a law firm
Experience working with e-discovery software is required
Experience in the North Carolina and South Carolina courts is required
Experience in federal courts is preferred
Experience working with various aspects of large case litigation (document/production/reviews, preparation of private logs, preparation of witness files, trial experience, etc.), preferred
Willingness and ability to work proactively in a team environment, across various locations
Exceptional communication skills; in-person, via phone, via email
Technology literacy and willingness to learn new practice technologies and software
Ability to organize, multi-task, set priorities, manage time efficiently, and exhibit excellent follow-up
Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
Solid understanding of, and demonstrated ability to comply with, confidentiality requirements
Professional demeanor and excellent personal and professional judgment
High attention to detail
Resourceful research and analytical skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
