Description
Job Summary:- We are seeking an experienced Data Center Project Manager with a proven track record leading ground-up data center projects, major expansions, and mission-critical infrastructure deployments.
- The ideal candidate will manage projects through various phases including planning, design, construction, infrastructure deployment, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- This role requires experience coordinating cross-functional teams across construction, facilities, engineering, IT infrastructure, networking, and operations to successfully deliver highly available, scalable, and resilient data center environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead data center projects through all phases, including planning, design, construction, infrastructure deployment, commissioning, and production handoff.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk mitigation strategies, and executive reporting.
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, facilities teams, network engineers, infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors.
- Oversee construction and infrastructure activities to ensure milestones, quality standards, and operational requirements are achieved.
- Manage procurement, delivery, and deployment of mission-critical equipment including electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure.
Coordinate installation and integration of:
- Servers and compute infrastructure
- Storage platforms
- Network infrastructure
- Fiber and structured cabling
- UPS systems
- Generators
- Switchgear and electrical distribution
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Cooling infrastructure (CRAC/CRAH, chillers)
- Fire suppression systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms
- Lead rack-and-stack activities, infrastructure readiness reviews, and operational turnover.
- Coordinate commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and production readiness activities.
- Ensure projects meet uptime, resiliency, redundancy, security, and operational standards.
- Manage change control, project risks, issue resolution, and vendor performance.
- Provide regular executive updates on project status, budgets, milestones, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of project management experience supporting enterprise, colocation, or hyperscale data center projects.
Experience managing one or more phases of data center delivery, including:
- Site development and construction
- Mission-critical MEP infrastructure
- Data center technology deployment
- Infrastructure integration
- Commissioning and operational readiness
- Strong understanding of mission-critical environments and Tier III/Tier IV data center standards.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional technical teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar project management tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience supporting hyperscale cloud providers or colocation facilities.
- Familiarity with ITIL, change management, and commissioning methodologies.
- Experience with DCIM platforms, infrastructure monitoring, and capacity planning.
