Hackel Construction is a Nebraska-based commercial contractor with a track record for delivering municipal pools, fuel stations, schools, office buildings, water treatment facilities, and commercial/industrial spaces across the state. We are hiring an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join and strengthen our preconstruction team.

This is a senior-level role for someone who takes pride in estimating with accuracy, consistency, and a documented process on projects ranging from $1M to $15M.

 
Your Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle estimating for commercial and industrial projects from initial review through bid submission
• Evaluate project risk, scope, and bid strategy in partnership with leadership
• Work within and continuously improve our established estimating systems and workflows
• Ensure clean, documented handoffs from preconstruction to operations
• Analyze historical cost data to improve margin accuracy over time
• Maintain consistent standards for estimate quality, format, and timeliness
• Collaborate daily with a dedicated estimating team

What Success Looks Like at 12 Months

• Estimates are consistently accurate and submitted on time
• Established estimating processes are being followed and improved
• Project selection is supported by clear, defensible numbers
• Handoffs to operations are clean and complete
   
• Location: Ord, Nebraska (hybrid: depending on the distance from the Ord Office, 1-2 days/week in office, 2-3 days remote)
• Experience Required: 5+ years commercial construction estimating
• Project Range: $1M–$15M commercial and industrial

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of commercial construction estimating experience
• Strong working knowledge of means & methods, cost drivers, and subcontractor scopes
• Experience with Procore and Sage 100 or comparable estimating software (Sage 100 is our platform)
• Detail-oriented and organized — keep clean records and consistent processes
• Reliable and time-disciplined 
• Comfortable presenting numbers and explaining assumptions clearly
• Identify problems, document them, and fix them systematically
