The Project Manager I (PM) will provide end-to-end project and portfolio management for research, training, funding, and scientific collaboration initiatives within the Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center (TDS IRC). The PM will lead the planning, implementation, and administration of TDS IRC initiatives, including community and recruitment events, emerging technology workshops, Scholar-in-Residence programs, funding mechanisms, and inter-institutional collaborations. Working under the direction of the Director of Programs & Strategy and/or Scientific Director, the PM will independently manage day-to-day project activities, coordinate with faculty and internal and external partners, and collaborate across departments to ensure successful execution of program priorities.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management for a portfolio of TDS IRC research, training, funding, and scientific collaboration initiatives, including development of goals, timelines, deliverables, and implementation plans.
- Support the Director of Programs & Strategy in designing, launching, and administering new TDS IRC initiatives and programs.
- Develop and improve project management processes, policies, procedures, templates, and governance structures to enable efficient and scalable program execution.
- Coordinate across faculty, staff, trainees, institutional partners, external collaborators, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely achievement of project objectives.
- Serve as a liaison for assigned initiatives, representing the TDS IRC with internal departments, funding partners, affiliated institutions, and external organizations.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, resource allocations, and expenditures to ensure appropriate stewardship of funds and compliance with applicable requirements.
- Maintain project plans, tracking systems, dashboards, and other tools to monitor milestones, deliverables, risks, and outcomes across the TDS IRC portfolio.
- Identify operational challenges and independently develop and implement solutions, escalating issues to leadership as appropriate.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and support the sustainability and growth of TDS IRC initiatives.
- Coordinate project communications, reports, presentations, and other materials for faculty, leadership, funding partners, and other stakeholders.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of three years post-master's or five years post-bachelor's related project/study management experience in a research setting or related field.
- Grant and contract experience.
- Strong supervisory skills and budgeting experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA/MS desired.
- Project Management training/certification.
- Experience coordinating initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, teams, or organizational partners.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and improve operational processes, project management systems, and workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement, manage competing priorities, and effectively navigate complex projects and changing requirements.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing complex projects or programs from planning through implementation and evaluation.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, tracking expenditures, and coordinating financial resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $114,941, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
