Senior Software Project Manager

Role Overview

The Software Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of all software development initiatives, managing the software team, and ensuring successful delivery of technical solutions across the organization. This role acts as the operational owner of the software function, working closely with the Head of Technology to implement strategy, manage resources, and deliver scalable, high-quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Delivery

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of all software projects (internal tools, Shopify, integrations).

• Translate business requirements into technical tasks and deliverables.

• Ensure high-quality implementation, testing, and deployment of solutions.

• Manage development either directly or through internal/external teams.

Shopify Platform Management

• Manage and optimize the Shopify ecosystem (themes, apps, integrations).

• Coordinate with Shopify support and external partners when needed.

• Ensure performance, scalability, and smooth operation of the platform.

Team Management

• Manage the software development team on a daily basis.

• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure accountability.

• Conduct performance reviews, appraisals, and contribute to hiring decisions.

• Foster a productive and collaborative team environment.

Agile Project Management

• Own Agile/Scrum processes including sprint planning, backlog management, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Track progress, manage timelines, and ensure on-time delivery.

• Prioritize tasks based on business needs and impact.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Gather and manage technical requirements from all departments.

• Act as the main point of contact for all software-related requests.

• Ensure alignment between business needs and technical delivery.

Internal Systems Management

• Maintain and improve internal tools used across departments.

• Ensure systems are reliable, updated, and aligned with operational needs.

• Implement enhancements and automation where needed.

IT & Infrastructure Coordination

• Supervise and coordinate with IT personnel managing infrastructure.

• Ensure system availability, security, and performance.

• Support troubleshooting and issue resolution when needed.

Vendor & External Management

• Manage relationships with external vendors, agencies, and service providers.

• Coordinate deliverables and ensure quality standards are met.

Budget Execution

• Manage the day-to-day utilization of the software budget.

• Track project costs and resource allocation.

• Ensure efficient use of tools and development resources.

AI Implementation (Execution Level)

• Implement AI-driven solutions and tools as defined by the technology strategy.

• Support integration of AI agents into workflows and systems.

• Assist in enabling teams to adopt AI tools in daily operations.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Experience & Background

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5+ years in project management or team leadership roles

• Proven track record of delivering complex software projects end-to-end in fast-paced environments

• Experience managing cross-functional teams including developers, QA, and IT personnel

• Prior experience working with Shopify or e-commerce platforms is highly preferred

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and modern development practices

• Experience with web technologies (e.g., JavaScript frameworks, APIs, integrations)

• Familiarity with cloud environments, hosting, and deployment pipelines

• Understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and system performance optimization

• Experience working with third-party integrations, APIs, and middleware solutions

Project & Process Management

• Deep knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies with hands-on experience managing sprints and backlogs

• Strong planning, prioritization, and execution skills

• Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp, Asana, Trello)

• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously

Leadership & People Management

• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and scaling software teams

• Strong experience in hiring, interviewing, and performance management

• Ability to build structured processes, KPIs, and team accountability frameworks

• Excellent conflict resolution and decision-making skills

Business & Stakeholder Management

• Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Experience working closely with non-technical stakeholders across departments

• Commercial awareness with ability to balance technical quality and business impact

• Experience managing vendors, agencies, and external partners

AI & Innovation (Important for your direction)

• Exposure to AI tools, automation, or digital transformation initiatives
